I like to make savory cocktails (not Bloody Mary!) and tomato often makes a good base. This Frantoi Cutrera Organic Cherry Tomato Puree has simple and natural ingredients making it great as an additive in cocktails. I only need about a tablespoon of this for each cocktail so I freeze this in to 15ml ice cubes. I am please with this.Product of Italy, expiry date is about 16 months from when the sauce is delivered.
It's disappointing because I really wanted to like this due to the sourcing and ingredients. But it's simply way too bland and sweet-tasting. Don't expect complex flavor, since its simply seasoned with salt and olive oil. I have no issues with the texture since it's the same texture homemade pasta sauce I've made had. And not just from canned tomatoes, but from actual tomatoes straight from the vine. The taste of fresh tomatoes for a premade sauce is what made me give this a high rating. The blandness is just what ruins it for me. Now if you have typical Italian spices on hand, season away and you have an absolutely amazing sauce. Actually, paired with fresh pasta and you have an unique culinary experience.
