Salt is one of the most fascinating ingredients present on our table every day. It is a simple inorganic mineral found in oceans and rocks. It is an essential nutrient, a chemical compound that our bodies can’t live without. As Italy is a peninsula, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea – salts are mainly sea derived. The most renowned salt plants are in Trapani, Sicily and Cervia, Emilia Romagna. The salts we carry at Bellina are made respecting traditional techniques – the sea water being drawn into large shallow basins and left to evaporate in the sun. No chemical process, made from just time, sea, sun and wind.
